Q: I have stage 3A inv breast cancer,2 nodes were positive, HER negative, ER and PR pos. Had 1st of six TAC cycles Dec. 13. Overall, I am well, but I did have hearing loss after. Tips to prevent more??
My oncologist said she is looking at decreasing the dosages of the TAC or possibly changing the chemo meds to prevent more loss. My hearing test shows high frequency loss in both ears, but good hearing still overall thankfully. My Ear, Nose, Throat doc is compassionate and says ridding my body of the cancer is top priority. He has prescribed a steroid that helps the ear when injured or infected to reverse loss, but it is very speculative in my case of it having any affect to prevent further loss as I continue chemo. I am checking with my oncologist first as recommended by my ENT to be sure the steroid will not negate my chemo med treatment in any way. I appreciate any insight, similar case histories, etc that may help me as I proceed with my treatment. Many thanks with much hope, faith, and love to all.
