From DrugTopics, the news magazine for pharmacists:

"Arimidex, AstraZeneca's after-surgery treatment for postmenopausal women with early breast cancer was set to expire in December 2009, but an extension was granted so that pediatric studies could be made. It now looks as if June 2010 is the earliest a generic version could become available."

Yes, the patent has expired as of the end of June, and about half a dozen generic AIs are now on the market, for a little less than half the price of Arimidex. Ask your oncologist if s/he can prescribe one for you, if you're on an AI... PJH

Now that arimidex is off their patent will arimidex be available at a lower  price?

I'd doubt Arimidex will go down in price, but its generic version is supposedly about half the price of brand-name Arimidex - so ask your doctor about a prescription for a generic, OK? There are maybe half a dozen versions. Good luck - PJH
