Raina, since this is happening on both breasts at once, it sounds very much like a hormonal issue. Breast cancer very, very seldom produces symptoms in both breasts at once. In addition, at your age, breast cancer is an extremely remote possibility. Your breasts/nipples are quite sensitive; have you changed your laundry detergent, or your shower gel? Wearing a new bra, doing a lot of swimming, anything like that? It's a long shot, but could you be pregnant? As I said, hormones often produce aching, sore breasts. If this doesn't abate within a few weeks, best to see a doctor and get something to help you with the discomfort, OK? Good luck - PJH

Don't be frightened - fear does nothing but eat away at you. Action is what's needed; if you're very stressed about this, see a doctor. If you feel you can wait, see if it abates within the next several weeks, over the course of your menstrual period. This could very well be hormonal. Either way, you have a plan - that should make you feel better, OK? Good luck - PJH
