Femara Oral

Uses and How to Use

Generic Name: LETROZOLE - ORAL
Pronounced: (LET-tro-zole)

Femara Oral Uses

This medication is used with other medications to treat certain types of breast cancer (e.g., hormone-receptor-positive breast cancer) in women after menopause. Letrozole is also used to help prevent the cancer from returning. Some breast cancers are made to grow faster by a natural hormone called estrogen. Letrozole decreases the amount of estrogen the body makes and helps to slow or reverse the growth of these breast cancers.

Letrozole is not to be used in women of childbearing age (see Precautions section).

How To Use Femara Oral

Take this medication by mouth, usually once daily with or without food or as directed by your doctor.

It is very important to continue taking this medication (and other medications for your cancer) exactly as prescribed by your doctor.

This medication works best when the amount of drug in your body is kept at a constant level. Therefore, take this drug at evenly spaced intervals. To help you remember, take it at the same time each day.

Do not take more or less of this drug than prescribed, or stop taking it (or other cancer medicines) even for a short time unless directed to do so by your doctor. Skipping or changing your dose without approval from your doctor may worsen side effects or cause the cancer to spread or return.
