Women who underwent psychological intervention during an initial bout of breast cancer handled the stress of recurrence and even had longer survival rates than their peers, a new study has found. Researchers in Ohio followed up on a 1994 study and found that after 11 years, 67 of the 227 patients had a recurrence. Those women who had been in the stress intervention group showed better immune system factors and a higher rate of survival than the women who had only been assessed in 1994.
