National Breast Cancer Awareness Month’s Core Mission

October and the color pink have been synonymous for more than 20 years now, thanks to National Breast Cancer Awareness Month (NBCAM). Amid the celebrities, pink ribbons and other fanfare, the core message remains the same: All women over 40 should have an annual mammogram.

Mammograms are a woman’s best bet for catching breast cancer early and significantly improving her chances of survival. This year, October 21st is National Mammography Day. If you’re over 40—or have reason to be screened at an earlier age [link to risk factors]—mark October 21st down in your calendar to call and make an appointment. Encourage your family and friends to do the same with a customized greeting card—you can find it at www.nbcam.com.
