October 9th: Self Breast Exams

Make It Part of Your Monthly Routine

October 9: Make sure you examine your breasts at the same time each month, one week following your period when hormonal tissue changes are minimal. Keep in mind that breasts are naturally lumpy, and most lumps are not cancer. Still, look for changes each month and contact your doctor with concerns. Self-exams, in conjunction with annual physicals and mammograms, if indicated, will help ensure early detection of any breast problems.
