Shorter Course of Radiation Effective for Breast Cancer

A new study has found that a three-week course of radiation is as effective as the usual five week course for women who have early-stage breast cancer. Canadian scientists found that by giving fewer, higher doses, patients were exposed to less radiation overall but their rate of tumor recurrence was no higher. Experts say that fewer doses may help relieve the burden of extensive treatment time that breast cancer patients endure.  Read full story >
