Baby girl free of breast cancer gene to be born soon

A British baby genetically engineered to be born free of the BRCA 1 breast cancer gene is due to be born soon. Experts say people who have the BRCA 1 gene have a 50 percent to 85 percent chance of developing breast cancer in their lifetime. The decision on the part of the unborn girl's parents has raised controversy, but the parents defended their decision by saying that they are trying to protect the girl from the lift threatening condition, since all of the female relatives in the father's family have developed breast cancer.
