Cancer patients who do research get latest drugs

Cancer patients who do research online are three times more likely to be prescribed the latest medications than those who don't study their condition, a new study suggests. A study of 633 patients with colorectal tumors found that those who had heard of new therapies and who pursued second opinions from doctors as part of their research were more likely to be given the meds. Researchers say that although this study was conducted with colon cancer patients, it is likely to remain true for those with any serious disease.  Read full story >
