Study on Lantus shows possible cancer link

Several controversial European studies suggest a possible link between the insulin analog Lantus and cancer. A German study of 127,031 diabetics found malignancies were more common in patients who took Lantus than in diabetics who took human insulin, while a Swedish study found that women who took Lantus were almost twice as likely to develop breast cancer. Two other studies found no statistically significant link between the drug and cancer. Critics say the results are far from conclusive, and doctors and researchers alike urge patients not to stop taking their medication based on these preliminary findings.
