Lack of study participants may hobble cancer fight

Experts say one of the main reasons the war on cancer may not be progressing is due to a lack of cancer study participants. Just three percent of adult cancer patients participate in a clinical trial of a new medication or a new drug regimen. A recent review published in the Oncologist found that one in five clinical trials will be abandoned without ever enrolling a single participant, and many studies are too small to reveal meaningful information, researchers say.
