Many women not given the proper breast cancer test

A new study suggests that up to two-thirds of women may not be getting the right genetic tests for breast cancer. Researchers say the drug Herceptin works well for some women, but only those who have HER2 positive breast cancer, and their study found that many women were never given a genetic test to determine if the drug would be helpful. This could mean that the drug was not being used in patients who would have benefited from it, while other women may have been given the treatment despite it being ineffective.  Read full story >
