Loneliness and stress may spur breast cancer growth

Social isolation and a stressful environment may speed up the growth of breast cancer cells. A new study in mice found that social isolation caused a genetic change in breast cancer tumors when compared to mice who lived in groups. The isolated mice also had a higher levels of stress hormones, researchers found. Experts say some studies in humans suggest stress may play a similar role in humans.
