Experimental Med Kills Breast Cancer Stem Cells

An experimental compound called MK-0752 appears to be successful at killing breast cancer stem cells, researchers say. These stem cells are important because they remain in the breast even after chemotherapy. Many experts believe the stem cells could be responsible for breast cancer recurrence. In the latest animal study, scientists found that when the drug was combined with normal chemotherapy stem cells were killed. Scientists say the compound is also working in 35 women who are participants in a clinical trial.
