Blood Test May ID Breast Cancer One Year Earlier

A blood test that can detect breast cancer up to a year in advance could dramatically improve survival rates, researchers say. The test identifies a protein called epidermal growth factor receptor, which appears to be heightened in women up to 17 months before they develop breast cancer. Experts say identifying this biomarker could give doctors a way to diagnose and treat tumors when they are still very small.
