Stress Reduction Aids Survival in Breast Cancer Patients

Women who underwent psychological intervention during an initial bout of breast cancer handled the stress of recurrence and even had longer survival rates than their peers, a new study has found. Researchers in Ohio followed up on a 1994 study and found that after 11 years, 67 of the 227 patients had a recurrence. Those women who had been in the stress intervention group showed better immune system factors and a higher rate of survival than the women who had only been assessed in 1994.
