Half of Breast Cancer Patients Stop Taking Their Meds Early: Study

A new study has found that half of cancer patients stop taking their medications ahead of schedule. A study of 8,769 women found that only 49 percent took their hormone therapy pills (such as tamoxifen or an aromatase inhibitor) for 4 and a half years. Researchers say troublesome side effects keep many women from refilling their prescriptions for the recommended five-year period.
