Panel Wants FDA to Withdrawal Approval for Avastin

An advisory panel to the U.S. Food and Drug Administration has overwhelmingly voted to withdrawal approval for the breast cancer drug Avastin. The panel's vote was based on two studies by Avastin drugmaker Roche that failed to show the drug benefitted patients with advanced-stage cancer. The drug was originally approved in 2008, following a study that suggested it helped lengthen the time it took for the cancer to worsen.
