Mastectomy

Surgery is part of nearly every patient's breast cancer treatment. Mastectomy, or removal or the breast, was a standard treatment for most every breast cancer in the past. Now, instead of mastectomy, many patients with early-stage cancers can choose breast-conserving treatment, or lumpectomy followed by radiation, with or without chemotherapy.
