Debra,
I first want to thank you for sharing your story. I had the same thing happen to me flying out of Long Island, NY. I needed to be back in AZ because My son was having a port installed to start chemotherapy. I felt like the Airlines waited just long enough for everyone to miss their connections. 100's of people watched as their planes pulled off from the gate, then waited on the runway for 40 minute. Well, his surgery at 7:30am was moved to 9:30am. I spent the night in New Jersey, we eventually worked it out, an got Him to the hospital at 4:30am. I arrived while he was in surgery. My point is you have to ask for help when you need it; not only when we are caring for a loved one, but when you need to figure out how to keep the lights on. I when to the hospital with my son for two straight months as they stuck needles in every part of his body. During this time I had to educate myself on this cancer I wasn't a good employee. I couldn't think about work so much, I know other are going through some of the same challenges. It gets pretty hard to keep things running at home. I'm trying to see if anybody else is having the same experience. Normally my pride won't let me go there.
