Hi, I'm Dinah. Does anyone have any suggestions for helping seniors with sundowning? I've tried medications, reasoning, yelling, changing mealtimes and bedtimes. Have you had any success? Please share. Thanks.

Thank goodness a nurse who had cared for her before was on and suggested that we take her off Pepcid AC...the hallucinations subsided and she was back to her self 36 hours later. Apparently some antacids can have that affect...don't know why...maybe has to do with the absorbtion of nutrients?

Hi,
You might want to read Dr. Vanda's article on Sundowning. It's a tricky syndrome and not much is known about it, but this article does give some some suggestions that might help.
