About Me

Hi.  I'm Dinah.   I'm a 57 year old widow and the sole caregiver for my mom who is 88 years old.  I often feel helpless because I can't seem to find any help that is really valid.  Even the doctor doesn't seem to offer much and claims I am just "assuming".  Her memory is not terribly bad as she still knows all the family, has many memories of pets, childhood, etc., but she is sad and unconcerned.  Nothing seems to entertain her.  I must "carry" every conversation.  It is difficult to get her out because she is no longer mobile and I can't transport her into the car.  I believe depression might be playing a big part, but the doctor doesn't want to hear it.   In addition she has been blind from glaucoma for several years which I believe contributes to her sadness and she has outlived most of her family and friends.  Any suggestions?  Thanks.
