Drinking distilled/deionized water

Is drinking distilled or deionized water bad for one's health? I've heard rumors that this kind of water leaches minerals from the body. I started drinking purified water several years ago, bow I'm told I have osteopenia and wated to know if the water could be depleting my calcium reserve.
