I recently had an endoscopy and colonoscopy, because I have been under pain management from an accident with narcotics my inability to be sedated is unfavorable(for lack of better word) I have awaken in the middle of this procedure before. Although I informed the physician of this, he took it mildly. After being increased to 225mg of Demerol, 25mg of phenergran and 35mg of another medication I still was wide awake, I feel that the procedure should have been canceled at this point ,but an anxious physician continued with the procedure anyway, I can not explain the amount of added pain I experienced. What is your opinion, should the doctor have postponed until I could return for full sedation?
