I am an unpaid caregiver for my mother.  Can I report this to the IRS and receive some type of credit?  I do make a minimum income of approx. $10,000/yr. because the majority of my type is caring for my mother.  Please advise.  Thanks.

Certain tax deductions may be possible, if your mother has been certified as chronically ill. Here is a good resource from the Alzheimer's Association regarding tax credits and tax deductions.

    http://www.alz.org/living_with_alzheimers_5455.asp#credits

As a caveat, the recommendations from the Alzheimer's Association may not apply directly to your situation, but it is a good starting point.

Best of luck with your information search, and please let us know if you find any good tips to pass along.
