I hope all the same things come true for caregivers.  We're also working on state family leave insurance, similar to the federal Family Medical Leave Act, except that it's paid leave.  Families shouldn't have to choose between work and family.  Also they can't afford unpaid leave when they have escalating medical bills.  California was the first state, Washington was the second, and hopefully NJ will be the third.

whooee! that's quite a topic, isn't it? I'm grateful for that once a week trip to Walmart after I take Mom to the bathroom and before her bedtime! I'm grateful that even tho we live in a city that is too big for me, our backyard is large, bordered by a creek beyond which are acres of trees in an abandoed city park. I'm very fortunate to live in my brother's home. Counting Mom, there are 7 family members living here. We all have our own space, four of them are under  23 yrs. old and it is nearly impossible to get them to stay with Mom so my brother and I can get out, But, we do have the stimulation of their comings and goings and much laughter, somebody to talk to, somebody to play canasta or cribbage with. I find that when I meet the day with a grateful heart it is much easier to deal with the isolation , boredom and that never empty laundry basket.
