Sunday, March 23, 2008 at 09:35 PMWow!!! Sounds exactly like me.... I had always been small and all of a sudden I had gained over 20 pounds, my eyes were so puffy, I had brain fog so bad.......My sister told me I needed to get my thyroid checked and sure enough, it had quit working... my cholesterol was almost 400 and triglycerides almost 400 also and when doc put me on thyroid meds, cholesterol dropped to 180, and everything else too.....Worth checking on because most doctors will NOT, and I repeat WILL NOT check your thyroid unless you demand it. And in my case I was lucky to be alive... My TSH was 150 and the highest it s/b is 5 so you get the picture.......Good luck!!!

Sunday, December 07, 2008 at 05:26 PMI just this Friday found out my triglycerides are 1909 and my cholesterol is high, tho not bad, and my sugar was normal. I'm also diabetic. But since my sugar intake is fine, that means i have to totally eliminate bad carbs and sugars, most dairy.
I happen to have been vegetarian before the the soy protein products on the market now a good, and I really enjoy the foods, so, it wont be too hard, except when I get the cravings and then binge eat on an entire meatloaf and mashed potatoes that could have fed a family of four.
I 5'11" and currently at my HIGH weight of 238 lbs. So, now I need to quickly begin to reduce fats and excercize and tro to lose 60 pounds in 9 months. I generally lose faster than that, but that's I hope is at least GOAL.
Thanks for sharing your stories. at 1909 (triglycerides), I was a bit shaken, and having panic attacks because I was getting headaches, which is a symptom of pancreatitis.
THe past two days, I have eaten only HEALTHY veggie and soy protein dishes and in smaller portions, and I have been walking. I tell you, i "FEEL" like my body is lighter already. it's not of course, but it also NOW, i snot all bloated from a binge snack.
