My test results...8/14/09

TC ..150      TriG....  554   HDL...23     LDL...cannot be measured but in the past were >100.   A1C...  5.5    Glucose....  90

5ft 7in tall..   215lbs.   42yrs old.  male    Family history of high cholesterol.

Meds...simvastatin ...40mg        Niaspan ..1500mg    Fish oil ... 1200mg  Aspirin ..325mg

My trigs were a lot lower on Lipitor and 1000mg of Niaspan...Trig level averaged 289.

Now that my health insurance put me on simvastatin and I increased my Niaspan to 1500mg, my Trig are 554?  What?  Why?

Is it the statin?  I did have BLT's and choc pie the night before test. Would that matter?

Also, I was told statins decrease any buildup in the aerteries so if my LDL is low, you should be good right?

Should I demand a stress test or some other test to check for any buildup in my aerteries?

Can someone please explain my actual risk?  My doctor is way too vauge.

Thanks,

Ron

This video animation shows how cholesterol behaves in the blood stream. Cholesterol is a soft, fat-like, waxy substance found in the bloodstream and in all your body's cells.
