Wants to know the good and bad cholesterol. Levels of cholesterol.

5/20/10 9:33pm

When you get the results of your lipid panel, you need to look at all the numbers to get good picture of your health.

Total cholesterol = LDL + HDL +VLDL

(WHERE  VLDL= TRIG/5)

LDL is considered the bad cholesterol and HDL is considered to be the good cholesterol.

Reta

LDL Cholesterol ---  <100-optimal, 100-129 Near Optimal, 130-159 Borderline High, >160 High LDL= CHOL - HDL - VLDL, Where  VLDL= TRIG/5 HDL Cholesterol --- <40 High Risk  >or= 60 Low Risk CHOL/HDL RATIO ---<4.5 Desirable, 4.5-5.5 Borderline, >5.5 Undesirable VLDL= TRIG/5
