Hello everyone, I am new to this site, and new to the whole cholesterol thing.  My cholesterol is very high right now. My doctor has put me on Lipitor. I have to quit smoking (excited about that), and get on a good diet. He also said lots of fiber absorbs a lot of saturated fats. So anyone with some quick tips on any of this will be appreicated. I hope everyone has a good evening.Smile

Hello Lil Sis,

I "had" high cholesterol too, over 400, my dr. put me on Lipitor as well, it is a very good drug but what I found that dropped my cholesterol alot was that I changed my diet to eating alot more fresh fruits and veggies, I eat Cherrios cereal or oatmeal for breakfast, small salad with either chicken or fish and mixed fruit bowl for lunch and small salad, brown rice (not white), chicken or fish, wheat bread w/ "SmartBeat" butter, nonfat milk, steamed veggies of any kind for dinner, snacking on fruit is really good too!  also ask your dr. about taking 500mg of Niacin, this med. you can get at any K-mart/Wal-mart/Target stores like that and with the combo of Niacin and Lipitor it REALLY drops the triglycerides and cholesterol in your blood!

Good Luck!  Please stop smoking that is the #1 to do right now, your heart will love you for it!
