After 2 months of taking simvastatin as a "GENERIC" OF LIPITOR my cholesterol level increased by 18 points. Even worse my triglyceride level increased by 50 points. I'm switching back to lipitor even though it is more expensive.

Therefore, if you were switched to simvastatin by your doctor, it may have been because your insurance company would no longer cover Lipitor any longer - because generic Zocor (simvastatin) is a GREAT DEAL cheaper.
