Peanuts have always been a favorite food of Americans and can be consumed in a variety of ways, including the stand-alone peanut to cooking with peanut oil. In fact, we consume ~2.5 billion pounds of peanuts per year, about half of which is in the form of peanut butter. At one time, the health benefi...

I eat about a large jar a week of peanut butter...so I should probably live forever!

Wink It's 'Adams" natural PB ,crunchy of course. I have been  eating it like this for many, many years and I think's it has been very beneficial to my cardio and non-cardio health.

If I could,i could eat a large jar a day,but my system could not handle that!

I love peanut butter,by the large spoonful.

But peanuts DO NOT LOVE ME!  Everytime I eat them I get terrible bouts of gas with lower back pain that lasts for days!  It's terrible.  I have tried every type of peanut--redskins, spanish peanuts, yellow peanuts, salted peanuts in the shell (my favorite), unsalted peanuts in the shell--all of these give me terrible gas and back pain!  The only nuts I can sometimes eat are pecans, pistachios (in moderation), and almonds (slight gas).  So, I really love peanuts, but they don't love me!

    Hello,

I am replying to ask you about your lower back pain after eating peanuts.  Do you have any other problems with petroleum products or pesticides after using say vasaline on your skin or breathing say bug spray like RAID with petroleum distillates.  Do these products give you back pain.  Trying spraying some RAID on a porch to remove a spider lets say. Then walk through it a few times and see if you notice back pain the next day.

    Sincerely

Well, I could give your suggestion a try, but I don't think that's the problem.  I recently purchased a book entitled, Nuts Are Not Good for Humans, and found it to be very informative.  Once I read the book and found out all the ways in which nuts interfere with the body's natural functions, I no longer eat peanuts.  It's just not worth it to me.  If you are interested in purchasing the book, I would be happy to give further info.

I appreciate your comment and suggestion.  However, I recently read a book entitled, Nuts Are Not Good for Humans, and found it to be very informative.  Once I found out how nuts interfere with the body's natural functions, I decided to leave peanuts alone.  If you're interested in the book, I'd be happy to give further details.

This is very interesting. I also get terrible lower back pain from eating peanuts - i'm not sure about other nuts. My kids have the peanut allergy. My back pain is very severe - i can hardly bend over when i eat them, but any other time my back is fine. I finally discovered what was causing the pain because my son is allergic to almost every protein when he was born 6 months ago - there was no formula for him to drink so i have to nurse him but i'm not able to eat anything he is allergic too - and when i reintroduce foods to him through my milk i also am seeing how it affects me. I think the peanuts must cause inflamation some how. I would be interested in finding out more info on this if anyone has any....
