Is zocor 80mg as good/effective as lipitor 80mg?

Only you and your doctor can decide which medication is the best for you.

However, we have some information on Zocor vs. Lipitor and the effectiveness of Lipitor that may be helpful.

Zocor is NOT the "same" as Lipitor and neither is Simvastatin the "same" as Zocor. I have been on Zocor for several years and it has been successful in raising my HDL whereas Simvastatin did NOT and neither did Lipitor. You should discuss this with your Doctor but if you have been prescibed Zocor to raise your low HDL I would suggest staying with what works. HDL is VERY important in reducing your risk for heart attack and if Zocor is your answer... don't switch.
