This is why is so important to check out with your cardiologist often. You might think that eating whole grains is healthy and what you're doing is creating a potetial heart problem. I go to Harmony Heart Group for my yearly check up just to be safe... you never now!
I find very confusing and conflicting info regarding lowering triglycerides. The recommended diet to lower triglycerides says to stay on a low glycemic diet, high fiber foods, fruits and vegies and eating high protein foods. HOWEVER, whole grains are on this list and whole grains (whole wheat breads, brown & wild rice, etc) turn immediately into sugar??? RIGHT? Isn't the sugar the cuplrit in high triglycerides? So, what should one do? What diet is recommended for high tri's? I have always been told to stay aware from all 'whites'...i.e., white bread, flour, potato's, etc. It sounds like the whole grains, brown rice etc appear to do the same??? or does it??? Also, I take flaxseed oil and fish oil daily? Can this cause an increase in tri's and what is the recommneded dosage for each if you...Thank you!
