I was disapointed with the article, for me it didnt need to go into the past ways of assessing lipids , I wanted all of the up to date information, about the tests now! I wish the article could have been a lot more conclusive and that there were ways to treat high cholesterol without statins.

I thought the article was good, and I too had hoped for some precise advice on best practice in lowering 'bad' cholesterol. that advice wasn't given but when I sift through this article and work out what I need to do, then I can research around how to do it. It will take time but once I have that knowledge I know it will stick with me, having worked hard to get it.

I was very diappointed by this article. Except for one sentence, you present cholesterol as a trivial item of very little value and only used as an indicator of heart health. Cholesterol is presented as something evil and to be feared by people. This is the typical response I have received from most doctors.

Cholesterol is far from being evil and is in fact very important and necessary for good health. Cholesterol is produced by our liver. Cholesterol is a building block for cell membranes and for hormones like estrogen and testosterone. Cholesterol becomes a problem when the level becomes too high and that is often the result of our western diet.

No one discusses the value of cholesterol (which is significant). I learned the hard way the value of cholesterol for my overall health. I was the victim of extreme cholesterol lowering. My total cholesterol dropped to 105 and it almost destroyed my health.

What upsets me the most is the fact no one knew what was too low and they all marveled at my numbers. I kept thinking, if my numbers are so great, why did I feel so bad.
