My mother currently has an HDL level of 69mg/dl Yet LDL's are 194mg/ml Both are high, however i am more worried about the extremly elevated LDL levels, Nevertheless her triglycerides are 64mg/dl. She does take daily omega 3 salmon oil, even though it has been said that omega3 may raise ldl levels, i dont know if the elevation would be as significant as 194!!!..

Also according to the AHA, elevated HDL may prove to be artherogenic.  Any input would be apreciated thank you.!

Thank you for your excellent explanation of the effect of Omega 3 fatty acids and its effect on LDLs.  I have been taking the Omega and when I read about the increase in LDLs I became concerned.  The article I read did not offer the scientific/medical explanation that you did.  Actually it's on a website that promotes a cholesterol lowering formula.  Therefore they are trying to sway people to purchase their product.

How self-serving.  That is precisely why I decided to do some more research and luckily found your article.
