Low Fat vs Low Carb
Anonymous
Wednesday, July 15, 2009 at 12:59 PMIn your article regarding "fad" dieting. Low Carb was a "fad" in the 1970s and Low Fat was a "fad" in the 1990s. More recently the "fad" diet (doctors are approving/suggesting) is the low carb leaning toward the Mediterrainian style.
Isn't every diet known a "fad" for a season?
I was given a low fat (supposed cholesterol cure diet by my doctor my total cholesterol started at 309 and went to 310 twelve weeks later even though I lost 14 pounds on that program.
I put myself on a traditional low carb regimine and total cholesterol went down 30 points and HDL went up. Weight loss continued at about the same rate as the low fat plan with more desirable numbers in cholesterol, triglycerides liver function and overall sugar which was also elevated.
Shouldn't an individual be more concerned with their test results than which diet is in fashion?
