I drink and smoke, but eat healthy and I was wondering if this is what is causing my high cholesterol.  Before I was just drinking wine (white) and then I met a partner that drinks Whiskey and I join him.  I also mix it with diet pepsi.

I know smoking raises cholesterol, but does it make it very high.  Does the sugar in Whiskey make very high cholesterol?

Diet can play an important role in reducing your cholesterol. Here are list of foods that help to lower cholesterol and protect your heart. Oats contain soluble fiber, which reduces your low-density lipoprotein. Soluble fiber is also found in foods like beans, apples, pears, barley and prunes. Soluble fiber may reduce the absorption of cholesterol in the blood. Five to 10 or more grams of soluble fiber a day decreases your total cholesterol and LDL. Eating fatty fish may be heart healthy because of its high content of omega-3 fatty acids which may reduce your blood pressure and risk of developing blood clots. In people who already had heart attacks, fish oil - or omega-3 fatty acids - reduces the risk of sudden death. Walnuts, almonds and other nuts may reduce blood cholesterol. Rich in polyunsaturated fatty acids, walnuts also keep blood vessels healthy. Olive oil contains a potent mix of antioxidants that can lower your "bad" (LDL) cholesterol but leave your "good" (HDL) cholesterol untouched. Olive oil contains a powerful blend of antioxidants that can lower bad cholesterol (LDL), leaving the good cholesterol (HDL) intact.
