Living with high cholesterol

By janetjohn Friday, August 03, 2007
Ok- I inherited my high cholesterol, high blood pressure and coronary heart disease from my father. He went through hell and I am trying to avoid that. My older brother has the same problems but he waited to late to start treating his and has already had 3 major heart surgeries like my dad did. I caught all of min this last year and began being treated for all my diseases. I am wondering though-I was diagnosed with low throid function as a chld when I was 10 and took thyroid medication for low thyroid medication until I was 40 at which time they tested me and said it was now normal and has remained such since then. Could thre be a coorelation between thyroid disease and heart conditions later on in life?

Hello,

Thanks for the post.

I found an article posted by our site expert, Dr. Steve Kang, earlier in this summer that addresses the relationship between High Cholesterol and Thyroid Disease. Click here to read Dr. Kang's SharePost.

Of course, please contact your doctor directly if you have any questions about your specific medical condition.

Best,

Katherine
