High Triglycerides

I had several stents. I also Had an open heart surgery in 2003 , since then I have. I have high triglycerides (389) despite taking both Zetia and Tricor as well as Omega-3 oil from flax seed & fish oil as well as 4000 IU of SLO Niacin. Lipitor or Mevacor?

Presently take Lipitor for Chlolestoral, understand taking Lipitor prevents one from eating Grapefruit, as it tends to increase and retain lipitor's strength? Would like to be able to have Grapefruit now and then, would Mevacor allow this and still be effective as Lipitor is?

Inherited High Triglycerides

I have high triglycerides & cholesterol, I also have type 2 diabetes all that I inherited from my Mother. Low Cholesterol and Atherosclerosis

My overall cholesterol number has always been low, 147 with LDL at 92 and HDL at 41 yet I still have Atherosclerosis. I haven't smoked since 1991.There's more to Atherosclerosis than the Cholestrol issue.Any info I can source?Lee...

can't take statins--now what ???

Lots of heart disease in family.. (I am 73 with "normal" stress test) Cardiologist wants my LDL lower that 100.. Vytorin did great but got some muscle soreness.( negative for rhabomyolysis ? spelling) after 4 months on Zetia only-total cholesterol 213 and HDL 56, LDL 130. I exercise 3 x week at health club and walk 30 min. other days.
