I am experiencing pain in my hands and other joints.  Is this a typical side effect of tricor?

Byron Craighead,

Thanks for your question.

The most common side effects from tricor include abnormal liver function tests, headache, back pain, nausea, constipation, and some respiratory symptoms.  After release of the drug, more side effects have been reports, though they occur less frequently.  Among these are joint discomfort, and muscle discomfort.

Any drug can cause any side effect in any person.  I suggest you contact your physician and inform him of your symptoms.  You need to make sure this is not being caused by another problem or medication.  He/she may discontinue the tricor and observe your status.

I hope this has beenhelpful.
