Q: Does cholesterol level rise automatically as you age if you continue a consistent diet?

I am 30 years old and have a normal cholesterol count. I'm curious if it will increase as I age (this is the first time I've had it measured), or if because I eat a relatively healthy diet it will remain somewhat constant?

Hi Curious George,

No, cholesterol levels are not affected by age.  As long as you follow a heart healthy diet you'll be able to maintain normal cholesterol levels.

All the best,
