Q: High LDL despite a healthy life style and diet

I'm a 27 year-old, 107 lb, 5'3" female, and recently found out that my LDL is in the "borderline high / high" region, with a normal HDL, triglyceride etc.  I exercise almost everyday (minimum of 30 minutes of walking and jogging over weekend), have a good diet of 1,200-1,400 calories (avoid saturated fat / trans fat, small consumption of red meat, a lot of fish / veggie / fruits, seldom eat out), and don't drink or smoke.  What else can I do to lower my LDL?

Hi LLDL,

There are actually good and bad forms of LDL cholesterol. It's the small dense LDL particles that you need to be concerned about. I recommend discussing a comprehensive lipid profile with your doctor to look closer at your LDL particle size to determine if your borderline high level is cause for concern or not.
