Q: why would my cholesterol reading fluctuate from 4.5 to 6.9

Last year my cholesterol was 4.5 then it went up to 5.9 and last week got recent results from the doctor and he was quite worried that it is now 6.9 and he wants me to take medication. I have a really good diet with very little fat, am normal weight and walk every day so where am I going wrong.

Hi Marge,

You'd be better able to pinpoint the reason for your increaing cholesterol levels if you knew the breakdown of your total cholesterol - HDL, LDL, Triglycerides.
