Q: I am 59, LDL is 250, HDL 34, trigl. 143 since 2002. How can HDL be raised?

Hi Lorraine,

 

Exercise is the best way to raise your HDL.  You want to get HDL above 60 mg/dL.  If you are not currently active, consult with your MD before starting an exercise program.  Work your way up to being active (such as a brisk walk) 5 or more times a week for at least 30 minutes.

Excercise, Niacin and diet will help your HDL. But you need to be on statins - PRONTO ! Your LDL at 250 is too high.
