Hi Lorraine,   Exercise is the best way to raise your HDL.  You want to get HDL above 60 mg/dL.  If you are not currently active, consult with your MD before starting an exercise program.  Work your way up to being active (such as a brisk walk) 5 or more times a week for at least 30 minutes.   You can learn about a diet to lower cholesterol here.   All the best,   Lisa Nelson, RD, LN Lower Cholesterol
