Can Lipitor and Tricor be combined safely with each other?

My doctor wants me to add Tricor to the Lipitor 40mg I am taking. She is starting me with a small doze to see if it will bring the triglicerides down. Lipitor is bring the cholesterol down , but not the other . Can these two drugs interact OK?

There is potential for drug interactions; however, I recommend weighing the pros and cons with your physician so you can make a decision appropriate for you.  Your pharmacist would be another good resource for education on the two medications.
