Agnes- All I can tell you is what happened to me: I could not lower my levels by diet change and exercise, it had to be by medication. I discussed the reason why with the doctor and dietician; they concurred that my high cholesterol must be familial, that is, inherited. Inherited high cholesterol is a 'bugger' to work with. Only you will come to determine which type you have after you give your body about 3 months - yes, 3 months is a good goal - to see if you lower your levels through diet and exercise. Best of luck to you. -Diane
