Q: will kidney function improve with lowering of cholesterol levels?

There is a large discrepancy between my "good" and "bad" cholesterol.  The good is very low and the bad is high.  Together with this, my urine was tested and my kidney function was found to be not as good as it should be.  According to my GP this is also linked to the high Cholesterol.  Will treatment of the bad cholesterol improve my kidney function?
